I am starting a new thing. I am going to be showcasing a wrestler I respect or am just a fan of. Today I want to showcase "The Mouth of the South" Jimmy Hart! When I was a kid I remember lovingly hating him. Actually I don't even think I ever really hated him. His colorful bright jackets, funny quips, and squeaky voice made up for all the times he would ruin Hulk Hogan's or Macho Man Randy Savage's matches. I also shared the screen with him for .0005 seconds on the Main Event when I was 3 years old (You have to watch it in slow-mo). I remember wanting a megaphone for Christmas so badly. So, if I hated him so much why would I want his megaphone?
Jimmy was one of the best managers of all time, without a doubt. The wrestlers he managed is too long a list to name off, but its probably half of the hall of fame roster. When I think of Jimmy though I think of Honky Tonk Man and the Hart Foundation. He started out in Memphis after Jerry Lawler brought him in and he chose to do wrestling over music (sort of, since some of the best wrestling entrance themes were created by Jimmy as well). Jimmy Hart was in a band called the Gentry's that actually had a major hit in the era of Beatlemania.
Now Jimmy is still makes appearances, and unfortunately I have yet to meet him. I hope I get to meet him someday! He seems like a genuinely great guy in everything I have heard or seen about him. Jimmy will always be a legend in my eyes and in the eyes of many people like me who has watched wrestling for the last 3 decades or longer.
